Pomegranate

Pomegranate (Punica granatum) is a concentrated source of phenolic compounds, particularly ellagitannins such as punicalagin, as well as free ellagic acid. These compounds have strong antioxidant activity and are involved in protecting the integrity of the intestinal mucosa.
Native to Western Asia, pomegranate is traditionally used for its astringent and digestive properties, particularly in the treatment of functional intestinal disorders such as bloating, disturbed transit or moderate diarrhoea.
