DIGESTION
Against gastric reflux
Lithothamnium, or Lithothamnium calcareum, is a small red algae that looks like coral. It grows on the seabed near the coasts of Brittany, Iceland and Scandinavia. In its raw form, this seaweed is used in organic farming to alkalise and enrich the soil. The extract selected by Sekoya comes from the French coast and is naturally rich in minerals and trace elements.
The lithothamnion we have selected is mainly composed of calcium carbonate (+80%), silica and trace elements. Only a small part of the calcium carbonate passes the intestinal barrier. Most of it remains in the digestive tract, where it acts as a buffer to absorb excess stomach acid. This calcium also contributes to the proper functioning of digestive enzymes.
